IPOH: The Natural Resources and Environment Ministry is open to meeting with the Orang Asli community from the Pos Piah district in Sungai Siput to discuss the logging activities on their ancestral land. Govt. minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said “The ministry is more than happy to receive a delegation from the Orang Asli community should they wish to meet with and discuss is sues pertaining to the logging concessions with us,” but went on to say “Forestry comes under the jurisdiction of the respective state governments. As such, each state is empowered to enact laws on forestry and to formulate forestry policy independently.“The executive authority of the federal government only extends to the provision of advice and technical assistance to the states.
